The programme of this year’s festival is very busy – and interesting enough for it to be a shame to miss even one of the performances. That’s not surprising – we’ve invited only the very best. Responding to your questions and doubts and in order to facilitate moving around the theatres’ Paradise, Purgatory and Hell, we decided to create a map, so that everyone can reach their destination and discover a treasure of theatrical emotions.
The 4th edition of the Divine Comedy starts on Thursday, the 8th of December. On this day, it is recommended to pay a visit to the Kameralna (Chamber) Stage of the Stary Theatre, where Alexandra. A thing about Piłsudski, directed by Marcin Liber, will premiere at 5pm. 7pm, at the Łaźnia Nowa Theatre sees the premiere performance of In the Name of Jakub S.. The journey is difficult and requires moving from the Old Town in the direction of the Nowa Huta district. However, it is definitely worth it.
On Friday, the 9th of December, we recommend going to the Łaźnia Nowa Theatre to see Enter the Dragon. Trailer (produced under the watchful eye of Bartosz Szydłowski) at 4.30pm. Those of you who decide to return to the City Centre may want to have a look at Pan Tadeusz, or the Last Foray in Lithuania by Mikołaj Grabowski at the Duża (Big) Scene of the Stary Theatre at 7:15pm.
Saturday the 10th of December also promises to be interesting, and the decisions will be difficult. On the one hand, there is Barbelo, Of Dogs and Children by Małgorzata Bogajewska at the Bagatela Theatre at ul. Sarego 7 (3pm), followed by The Polish Club by Paweł Miśkiewicz at 6pm at the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre. On the other hand, the Stolarnia Scene of the Ludowy Theatre offers a theatrical provocation by Małgorzata Głuchowska, If Not Now, Then When, If Not We, Then Who?, at 5pm. Before going to bed, you might want to stop at the Jama Michalika Café at ul. Floriańska 45 to see Daughters by Małgorzata Głuchowska.
The Sunday (11th December) schedule is very busy. One of the possibilities is a visit to the Stary Theatre. First, at 3pm is the classic Our Town in a staging by Szymon Kaczmarek on the Duża (Big) Scene, followed by Brothers Karamazov by the Provisorium team from Lublin on the Kameralna (Chamber) Scene at 6pm. You can finish your day with A Piece on Mother and Fatherland by Jan Klata at 9:15pm at the Łaźnia Nowa Theatre. An alternative programme includes a special performance of the puppet version of Yvonne, Princess of Burgundia, brought by Marian Pecko from Opole, at the Ludowy Theatre at 3pm, a stage reading of Citizen K. by Piotr Ratajczak at 7pm at the Miniatura Scene of the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre, and the already mentioned A Piece on Mother and Fatherland by Jan Klata at 9:15pm at the Łaźnia Nowa Theatre.
Monday the 12th of December means emotions. First there will be Babel 2 by Maja Kleczowska at the State Drama School at 4pm. Then, at 7pm the impressively titled Mickiewicz. Forefathers' Eve. Performance, which will be staged at the Duża (Big) Scene of the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre.
On Tuesday the 13th of December, we continue our visit to the festival’s Hell. We start at 4pm with Joanna the Mad; Queen, directed by Wiktor Rubin, at 4pm at the Ludowy Theatre. The Father by Agata Duda-Gracz at the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre (6pm) really can’t be missed. This day will then end with Judith by Klemm at the Kameralna (Chamber) Scene of the Stary Theatre at 9pm.
On Wednesday the 14th of December, the choice is easy: Rainbow Stand 2012 by Monika Strzępka at the Łaźnia Nowa Theatre (Osiedle Szkolne 25) at 6pm.
On Thursday the 15th of December, the last path leads to the Nowa Huta district, to the Targi w Krakowie (ul. Centralna 41a), where at 9pm the festival performance of The Sexual Life of Savages by Krzysztof Garbaczewski will take place.
